Steve was raised and educated in California. After serving in the military and a short career in merchandising, he found his calling in education. He taught elementary school and student teachers for seven years before moving to school administration, serving as elementary and middle school principals and district level business manager and superintendent. He retired after 34 years in education, but continues to give back to the Auburn community by volunteering. He works with AARP to provide tax preparation services to seniors and low income individuals, and supports literacy through Sight Word Busters, the Friends of the Library and the Literacy Council. His interests include travel, sailing, golf, studying ancient Mesoamerica and spending time with family.
